Our Interior design proposal for a sky office in the coming up BURJ DUBAI towers - dubai, ( the 160 floor and 906 mtrs high building under construction due to be completed in 2009 desighned by Smith of SOM)has been selected in top 5 designs internationally

LAYOUT

The layout of the work station modules blend with the profile of inner spaces of the The Burj sky office spaces, creating flowing passage ways, with buffer lobby like spaces at entrance door , junction of passage circulation.

FORM AND FUNCTION

The work station is designed keeping in mind :

Ease of Working

The curving working top , with PC on one end lets the user just rotate on a swivel chair to moving across the entire  area of the work station  , keeping fatigue out.

Customization and Personalization  of work space

The work station can be individually customized  to adopt in terms of partitioning , layout, Glass in partition ,  and a lot of add ons for a very personalized space development thus giving a more humanistic and personalized touch to the individual Space.

Interaction

Open work stations do invite colleagues for short one to one  discussion

A sliding/rotating top giving customized option of round or square shape is designed /attached to the work top for such daily Discussions, without disturbing  working space.

Office equipment

Desk top PCs with key board, Telephones , stationary, filing , and personal nicknats are accommodated , with easy accessibility and no inter conflict.

Lighting and wiring

Built in lighting with regulator for controlling intensity of line

Assembly

In spite of the organic curving shape of the work station the Modular concept has been followed, in layout scheme with multiple orientation and interlocking patterns are adopted, while work station itself has a ready to assemble (RTA) design an inherent

Characteristic of modular design.

Material and Color Scheme

The work stations are made with Frame work of Satin steel finish members , pipes –brackets-collars-hinges-sleeves-caps-nuts-bolts, while the finished surface of the partition and top are made with 25mm thick particle board with Post-form lamination

COMPONENTS OF WORK STATION MODULE

FRAME WORK

The frame work of the work station has a modular ready to assemble concept , made out of satin steel finish components comprising of 120mm diameter pipe , fitting cap at desk top level and partition top level with brackets/braces/pivots etc.

PARTITION SLATS

Partition is in the form of 200mm wide interlocking vertical slats of Particle board or glass or pin board as per the individual requirement and  Placement of work station , a combination of all three types of slats in partitioning gives interesting combinations

WIRING AND LIGHTING CHANEL

The wiring channel at desk top level also ties the steel finish vertical pipes , data cables and electrical conduits area routed through

the channel , Socket point outlets are provided near TFT screen and where ever individually required 

WORKING TOP

The working top is L shaped with curved inner profile  , desktop work area and computer work area forming two legs of the module

As the computer work does not involve any desk top work the top is narrower while at the desktop work area the top is wider to accommodate paper work . The curved inner profile facilitates easy movement from desktop area to computer area just at the swivel action of the chair

SIDE TABLE /ROTATING

A rotating/sliding and self folding side table is attached to the work station for facilitating one to one discussion /interaction with in the office across various sections

SLIDING TRAY WITH CPU SHELF

To accommodate keyboard and mouse of the computer a sliding tray with round wider end is provided accommodating both components at the same level

TFT SCREEN MOUNT ON PARTITION

TFT display screen of the computer is mounted on the partition with flexibility of tilt and back & forth movement leaving the entire

Table top for placing documents being processed /worked on.

CORNER FILING

Corner filing unit for immediate day filing with micro storage drawer , at the end of the day the files are moved to the side filing unit

SIDE FILING UNIT

Bigger lockable side vertical filing unit to accommodate documents

IDENTITY PLATE

In vast open offices a  identity plate on each work station  marking the work station no. or the officers designation/name helps in overall orientation.
